Have you heard of the book, "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron? It is a 12-week program for people wanting to discover and heal their inner artist. She has all kinds of useful information in the chapters, and then ends each chapter with tasks to do over the course of the week. Over the years, I have read this book more times than I can remember. The last time I went through it, I gathered a couple of my friends to join me. It was a great experience to work together with others on this journey. Having others there held me accountable to carry through on the tasks, provided more insights and perspectives, and a built-in support network.
With my background in psychology, years of teaching music, working through this system on my own, and currently taking Julia's ideas in my own direction through writing a journal on becoming more positive, I am offering to be a guide as others work their way through "The Artist's Way." Together we will examine your beliefs on being an artist, and help to get you to a place where you can embrace your creative self. We will use the book as a launching pad to get in touch with your inner artist, and living a more creative life.

Puppets, Pottery and Pastries at Primo Art Spa
Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 10:00 am to 12 noon, we invite you to make and play with puppets or pottery and enjoy some pastries (probably muffins) at the Primo Art Spa. Joy and Mary are cooking up some fun for kids and adults of any age. It might be an opportunity to bring your kids for puppets and play with clay, or vice versa. This is our first Art Saturday, so we're keeping it open to any age. As our numbers increase, we might divide into age groups, or not. Sometimes, it's fun to mix and mingle.
Millie and Willie "share" a muffin.
Millie: Willie, I see that there is a bite or two missing from this muffin.
Willie: Yes, Millie. I couldn't resist. It's one of Joy's specialties, with chocolate, a hint of coffee flavor, and that crumble top.
Millie: I thought we were going to share it.
Willie: I saved you a bite.
Millie: (breaks off a small crumble and Willie devours the rest) Willie!
Willie: Saturday, come over to the Art Spa on Saturday. She'll have a whole batch of muffins.
Millie: What else is happening at the Art Spa on Saturday?
Willie: Mary is going to help kids and grown-ups make more sock puppets so we can put on a play.
Millie: Oh, I'm so excited!
Willie: Me, too. Plus, Joy will help people make fairy houses or other awesome stuff out of clay.
Millie: Oh, that's wonderful.
Willie: Yes, I know. And, they'll have fresh muffins.
Millie: I'll be hiding mine.

Unveiling of the Fairy Houses
Last Tuesday we had a pick up party and unveiling of the Fairy Houses from our Build Your Own Fairy House class. It was so exciting!
This is how it looked after the hand building and first firing.
Then, the girls glazed it and it was fired again.
And, then, Ta-Da!
It's so cute!
If I were a fairy, I'd totally move in here!
And, then, we had cake!
Willie: Look, Millie, it's you?
Millie gives Willie a sideways look and a raise of her eyebrows.
Joy's robot guy.
The pick up party turned into a giggling, running around the house, meet & greet the neighbors party.
What a hoot!
And, delicious cake was had by all.
Contact Joy for a chance to build your very own fairy house.
We're looking at a Saturday morning in October for a Sock Puppet Party for kids in elementary school. We'll make sock puppets (friends for Millie and Willie), create characters, and make plans for a puppet show. Who's in?
Email us to get on the contact list for classes and shows.
Go. Create. Inspire!
